Sometimes you just have to have a BBQ.. school night or no school night. A few nights ago we all had a lazy evening in the garden and relax together in the sun. Absolute bliss.
We’re gearing up for Easter in our house! It’s been a hectic few weeks with Greg and Kelly’s wedding, and I’ve begun editing their photos and getting back into the swing of wedding season (so excited!), but this week has gone at our own pace much more.
We had a terrible moment on Wednesday when Vivienne (usually one of the most cautious children you’d ever meet) fell down the stairs. From the top to the bottom. There was hysteria in our house while David and I swept her up and cuddled her and thankfully she wasn’t hurt at all – just very shocked. We kept her off school, gave her some marshmallows and put her back into bed with Peppa Pig. After the incident, where the next few days were spent by us watching her saying, “well she seems fine.. but it was awful wasn’t it..”, we all needed to take a break.
On Friday Viv and I went for lunch with my friend James and came home to make Easter nests with Dav. We popped into town to choose sme eggs for each other – it has to be Thornton’s, with piped icing names on from me.. Dav bought Vivienne an Easter bunny and me 6 duck eggs and a goose egg.. and soon there was quite a collection of chocolate building on top of the telly. We’ve also loved Vivienne bringing her crafty Easter bits and bobs home from school, especially her Easter bonnet.
Ahh it’s been lovely this week to see Rosie, Ronnie and Jemima. They’ve popped up for a few days and we won’t see them again until Greg & Kelly’s wedding next month. Vivienne loves having friends/cousins round and always shows them around our house and her bedroom as proud as punch.. so we asked Ronnie if he wanted to come and help make some rainbow cakes with V. They were both lovely, good mixers, good icers and good decoraters.. even if a few mini eggs and smarties went missing along the way..
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day.. we usually just buy a nice meal and drink a bit more wine than usual.. We got a DVD to watch and got an M&S dine-in-for-two and then I saw this recipe for salted caramel and chocolate brownies on Pinterest…. and decided to make them even though our house is FULL of ‘treat’ food this week as it is..
