It’s been a tough few months of hard work on both sides – particularly Dav – but now wedding season is waking up as Spring arrives I find myself rushing around much more too.. Dav floated the idea of a little British family road trip a few weeks ago, and that it’d be nice after a double wedding weekend (which ended up being a triple wedding weekend) to go for a few days away just the three of us to escape the noise of home.
We decided upon a little 3-day-3-stop trip of Liverpool, Blackpool and the Lake District. The car had other plans and conked out the evening before Friday and Saturday’s wedding and is still, worryingly, in the garage.. after many phone calls and near-arguments over car insurance papers and whether that time I was caught driving in a bus lane in Newcastle mattered for getting me insured on Grandma’s Kia for 3 days, we finally sorted everything out, packed up and hit the road.
Liverpool has a special place in our hearts and both of us feel we have some sort of unfinished business as we left a little too soon.. (the fault of a surprise pregnancy with little Vivivoo) and once we parked up the car and lunched in the Quarter, wandered around Sefton Park, down to the Docks and around L1 it was all underpinned with a real poignancy that we were back, and had a little 3 year old to show around.
Here is the first of three posts covering our little trip away. It was much needed down-time for us, just exploring, strolling around, and, of course, eating far too much delicious food..
