Mother’s Day

 

..was all about food and flowers. I woke up to a gorgeous card from Vivienne, a bunch of flowers (she’d asked for sunflowers for me herself at the florist) and some handmade and hand-decorated chocolate chip cookies, which we ate for breakfast. Dav and I dropped V at ballet in Yarm and, as usual, headed down the highstreet to have a coffee and gently welcome the weekend in.. until we realised that there was a Farmer’s Market.. which generally means stopping off at the cash point and buying usually a bit too much food for our fridge.. which is exactly what happened.

 

I was particularly intrigued by the amazing variety of mushrooms on offer, which I bought along with some truffle butter (very strong), homemade pastries, onion bhajis, samosas and pakora to go with the curry I’d made a few days earlier, some smoked mackrel, brie, black pudding scotch eggs (unreal) and a selection of handmade soaps for my mum, who we visited afterwards.

 

We also popped in to see David’s Mum before having an amazing lunch of mussels and venison at La Pharmacie, which is our ‘Date Night’ favourite. All in all, it was such a lovely lazy way to spend a Sunday, and, along with lots of cuddles and kisses from my little girl, the best Mother’s Day I could ask for. Thanks Dav and Viv, I feel very lucky.
